Book Review: Clean Agile Back to the Basics

drawing

The Agile manifesto was written almost 20 years ago and led to an increased awareness of a variety of practices including Scrum, Kanban and Lean to name only a few. In Clean Agile, Uncle Bob explains how agile was started, what was the principles and the reasons behind it in a plain easy to understand language.

This is the book you should read if you haven’t dived into the origins of agile before. Even if you have learnt about Agile before, this book gives you practical answers to questions such as what are the technical practices to adopt to achieve agile development, how can an organisation become agile, and what roles do programmers, testers and managers have in agile?

The book reminds us to not adopt processes blindly but instead focus on the values we are trying to instil and the problems we are trying to solve. Because adding these processes without understanding the values behind, does not change people’s mindset or solve the problems.
